Next up in our ‘Meet the Speaker’ Series for UKSTAR 2018 is Fran O’Hara.
Fran has 30 years’ experience in the software industry having worked in development, test, management and now quality consulting.
Fran specialises in pragmatic approaches to lean/agile, quality/testing, and associated practices. For the last 10 years, a key element of his work has been providing agile/lean coaching, training and advisory support to organisations transitioning to agile/Scrum with a particular emphasis on agile testing.
He is co-organiser of Agile Tour Ireland and a co-founder of the Irish SIG in Software Testing – SoftTest. His tutorial, ‘Metamorphosis – Moving to Agile and Staying Agile’, was voted best tutorial at EuroSTAR 2016 in Stockholm.
Fran will present his session ‘The Seven Deadly Sins of Scrum‘ at UKSTAR 2018 in London.
1. What is your favourite testing book/blog? Why is this your favourite?
More agile testing – Janet Gregory and Lisa crispin . Great guidance , practical with lots of tips suggestions and case studies/experiences.
2. How do you keep up to date with the software testing industry?
Attending local SIG meetings and meet ups , reading publications / articles / and other resources on line , attending conferences like EuroSTAR , engaging with a variety of organizations and their evolving approaches
3. What is the biggest misconception about testing that you’ve heard?
That you typically don’t need testers in agile or that if you have them they have to be technical.
