Next up in our ‘Meet the Speaker’ Series for UKSTAR 2018 is Jesper Ottosen.
Jesper is a Test Manager at an outsourcing company with deliveries both in development, application maintenance, infrastructure and operations.
While he usually does test management in software projects his interests are all kinds of testing also outside of software development.
Jesper is a blogger, a writer and active on twitter as @jlottosen
You can find more from Jesper on his blog https://jlottosen.wordpress.com
Jesper will present his session ‘Experiences in Testing Infrastructure Projects’ at UKSTAR 2018 in London.
1. What is your favourite testing book/blog? Why is this your favourite?
One of my favorite testing books is “Perfect Software and other illusions about testing” (Gerald Weinberg, Dorset House 2008).
It’s a whole book about misconceptions and myths in testing – real eye opener into thinking about testing.
2. How do you keep up to date with the software testing industry?
I keep my self up to date with:
– Twitter stream
– Newsletters from Eurostar and MinistryOfTesting
– Webinars
and occasional local meetups in Aarhus, Denmark, where I live.
3. What is the biggest misconception about testing that you’ve heard?
One of the misconceptions is that testing can only be done by testers. Everyone tests, and some tests are better left to people with the right knowledge.
In my talk “Experiences in Testing Infrastructure Projects” I will give some examples of IT (IaaS) projects without applications and without testers, but where we still test.
