1. What is your favourite testing book/blog? Why is this your favourite?
I’m a huge fan of the “Ministry of Testing – Weekly Testing News” newsletter. It’s always packed with links to a lot of blogs: it allows to read very different points of view on several testing topics! Another interesting fact is that it shows how much the testing community is active and willing to share knowledge and experiences to others.
2. How do you keep up to date with the software testing industry?
First I follow quite a lot of people on Twitter and save a lot of links to Pocket. I’m also still a big fan of the good old RSS feeds where I can go through everything that’s been written on the blogs I like. Then every Sunday, I take some time to read the articles that popped up during the week.
Second I really like to go to testing events in France: while the community is relatively small, it’s composed of great people that like to share what they’ve learnt along time.
3. What is the biggest misconception about testing that you’ve heard?
“Testing is useless with good developers”, I heard it too many times.
A lot of people still seem to think that testers are at the end of the development cycle.
I have to disagree with this kind of statement: testing is super useful to let good developers do their best work! By implementing a proper tests strategy, testers allow the best developers to code, build and deploy while being confident that if they break something they know about it right away.
