How did you get started in software testing?
I was working in a computer shop and wanted to become a software developer. I ended up taking a job at a company as a software tester on the promise they would train me to become a software developer. After a few months I left that company determined to never again work as a software tester. That was when I ran into Derk-Jan de Grood at a birthday party who told me his employer was looking for a sales manager. It turned out sales manager wasn’t my thing either but at that company I switched to software testing.
In the end software testing wasn’t so bad after all.
Who inspires you?
Elon Musk. As you can see from my companies name and logo I am interested in space. I think it’s amazing what he has achieved, not just in space, but also with Tesla.
What do you see for the future of software testing?
Although I think Big Data technology and Machine Learning will change our work dramatically, software testing by testers will remain and may even become more important. But we will end up adopting this new technology. Our focus should not be on testing it, but using it to help us in our work as testers.
